Brilliant tailor/alterations service. She’s been here since 1986, Regina is a real character and good….no, great….at what she does.  She can be very direct and will give you her opinion whether you want it or not (which is why we love her).  She has copied dresses, designed bespoke creations for us and done simple alterations.  She is honest, and will even talk herself out of work if she thinks what you are asking for is unnecessary.  Make sure you only deal with her.  BTW: If you find Far East Plaza hideously confusing, just jump on the main escalator and take it to the top of the building.  On seeing a reflexology joint straight ahead (try it, they are good and very cheap), look left and you’ll see her shop, decked out with white and red paper in the window.

Tailor David Chan is a safe and relatively inexpensive pair of hands, be it for copying styles or designing to your specifications.  Copying, or, at the very least, basing your design on something, is always advised so you are 100% sure of what you are getting.  Generally speaking, it is very easy for crucial details to be lost in translation if you can’t physically illustrate them.  Do not expect a couturier, but a great staple-builder with a discerning, mainly local client base.

If you want your jeans taken up and done well, come here. They also do any other tweaks and tucks as required.  They may cost a little more than a chap in a cupboard, but they’ll do a better job.  (FYI They are part of the tailoring outfit – as listed above – which is one floor up).

A tailor of shoes vs clothes – however, there is no doubt about it – this is quite possibly THE most unlikely looking (and named) bespoke shoe shop in the world… stick with it, but only if you can really, and we mean REALLY, see beyond its decidedly aunty looking offerings without freaking out.  Rosa has owned and run the shop for 30 years and has been making bespoke shoes for 20.  You need to be specific and clear about what you want – don’t be put off by the (motley) selection of previously made bespoke shoes she has created for past clients, most of which had terrible taste.  Here’s the juice: Rosa will copy your own shoe (bring it in and be prepared to leave it, rather than just providing a photo, in order to get the best possible likeness) in your own material.  She does carry a basic stock of good quality leathers if you are after a pretty standard colour.  Prices are seriously affordable and start from as little as $89 for sandals, $158 for proper shoes (prices do not include material and vary according to styles).
